Acorn Squash
Acorn squash can be introduced around 6 months when cooked until soft. Its sweet, nutty flavor is appealing to most babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Roast or steam until soft, then puree or mash. 9-12 months: Offer soft cubes as finger food. 12-24 months: Serve roasted wedges or in soups.
Nutrition
Excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Rich in potassium, magnesium, and fiber. Contains B vitamins for energy.
A note from the editors
Cut in half, remove seeds, and roast cut-side down for easier preparation. The natural sweetness intensifies when roasted.
Good to know
Remove seeds before cooking. The skin becomes edible when roasted but may be too tough for younger babies. Cook until very soft.
