Food guide
Artichoke
Artichoke can be introduced around 8 months. The heart is the most suitable part for babies - tender and easy to eat when cooked.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Puree cooked artichoke hearts mixed with other vegetables. 9-12 months: Offer soft, small pieces of artichoke heart as finger food. 12-24 months: Serve in dips, pasta, or with other vegetables.
Nutrition
Excellent source of fiber for healthy digestion. Contains folate, vitamin C, and vitamin K. High in antioxidants.
A note from the editors
Canned artichoke hearts (in water, not marinated) are convenient and safe for babies. Rinse to reduce sodium.
Good to know
Only serve the tender heart - the leaves and choke are not suitable for babies. Steam or boil until very soft.
