Asian Pear

Asian pears can be introduced around 6 months. They're crisp like apples but juicy like pears, with a mild sweet flavor.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Grate finely or cook until soft and puree. 9-12 months: Offer grated or very thin slices. 12-24 months: Serve thin slices, teaching careful biting.

Nutrition

Good source of fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K. Contains potassium and copper. High water content for hydration.

A note from the editors

Unlike regular pears, Asian pears are eaten when crisp. Store in refrigerator for crispness.

Good to know

Asian pears stay crisp even when ripe, which can be a choking hazard. Grate, cook, or slice very thin for younger babies.
