Food guide
Cabbage
Cabbage can be introduced around 6 months when cooked until soft. It has a mild flavor that most babies accept well.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Steam or boil until very soft and puree. 9-12 months: Offer well-cooked, finely shredded cabbage. 12-24 months: Include in soups, stir-fries, and cooked dishes.
Nutrition
Good source of vitamin C and vitamin K. Contains fiber and antioxidants. Low in calories.
A note from the editors
Red cabbage has more antioxidants but may stain. Green cabbage has a milder flavor.
Good to know
Cook thoroughly to soften and reduce gas-causing compounds. Raw cabbage is too tough for babies.
