Cashew

Cashews can be introduced around 6 months in safe forms like cashew butter or finely ground. Never give whole cashews to babies.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Thin cashew butter with water and mix into purees. 9-12 months: Add ground cashews to oatmeal or baked goods. 12-24 months: Use in sauces and various recipes.

Nutrition

Good source of healthy fats, protein, iron, and zinc. Contains magnesium and B vitamins.

A note from the editors

Raw cashews blend into very creamy textures. Cashew butter is naturally sweeter than other nut butters.

Good to know

Tree nuts are a common allergen. Only serve as smooth butter or finely ground powder. Whole cashews are choking hazards.
