Celery
Celery can be introduced around 6 months when cooked until very soft. Raw celery is a choking hazard until age 4+.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Cook until very soft and puree into soups or other dishes. 9-12 months: Include well-cooked celery in mixed dishes. 12-24 months: Offer cooked celery pieces, avoid raw.
Nutrition
Good source of vitamin K and potassium. Contains fiber and antioxidants. Very low in calories.
A note from the editors
Celery adds flavor to stocks and soups. Remove strings by peeling with a vegetable peeler before cooking.
Good to know
Raw celery is stringy and a serious choking hazard. Always cook until completely soft for babies and toddlers.
