Food guide
Cherry
Cherries can be introduced around 6 months when pitted and prepared safely. They're nutritious but require careful preparation.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Puree pitted cherries or mash well. 9-12 months: Quarter pitted cherries for finger food. 12-24 months: Offer halved cherries, still pitted.
Nutrition
Good source of vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. Contains fiber and melatonin (may help sleep).
A note from the editors
A cherry pitter makes preparation easier. Frozen cherries are often pre-pitted and convenient.
Good to know
Always remove pits - they're choking hazards and contain compounds that can be toxic. Cut into small pieces.
