Cornmeal
Cornmeal can be introduced around 6 months. It's a versatile grain that can be made into porridge or used in baking.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Cook into a smooth porridge (polenta) and mix with vegetables or fruit purees. 9-12 months: Serve soft polenta pieces as finger food. 12-24 months: Use in cornbread or pancakes.
Nutrition
Good source of carbohydrates for energy, fiber, and some B vitamins. Contains iron and zinc. Naturally gluten-free.
A note from the editors
Stir constantly while cooking to prevent lumps. Add breast milk or formula for extra nutrition and creaminess.
Good to know
While corn is not a common allergen, some babies may be sensitive. Choose whole grain cornmeal for more nutrients.
