Cumin
Cumin can be introduced around 6 months. This warming spice adds depth of flavor and is commonly used in many cuisines worldwide.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Add a tiny pinch to vegetable purees, especially carrots, sweet potatoes, or lentils. 9-12 months: Use in mild curries or bean dishes. 12-24 months: Include in meat seasonings and rice dishes.
Nutrition
Good source of iron. Contains antioxidants and may aid digestion. Has antimicrobial properties.
A note from the editors
Toast whole cumin seeds before grinding for more intense flavor. Ground cumin loses potency quickly.
