Kale

Kale can be introduced around 6 months when cooked until tender. It's one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Steam or saute until tender and puree or finely chop. 9-12 months: Offer finely chopped cooked kale. 12-24 months: Include in various cooked dishes.

Nutrition

Excellent source of vitamins A, C, and K. Rich in calcium, iron, and antioxidants. High in fiber.

A note from the editors

Massage raw kale with oil before cooking to soften it. Baby kale is more tender than mature leaves.

Good to know

Raw kale is too tough - always cook for babies. Remove tough stems. Can have a bitter taste - cooking helps.
