Maple Syrup
Pure maple syrup can be introduced after 12 months in small amounts. It's a natural sweetener but still high in sugar.
How to serve at this age
12-24 months: Use small amounts as occasional sweetener in pancakes, oatmeal, or yogurt.
Nutrition
Contains some minerals like manganese and zinc. Has antioxidants. Lower glycemic index than white sugar.
A note from the editors
Grade A Dark has more maple flavor. Store in refrigerator after opening to prevent mold.
Good to know
Still a concentrated sugar - use sparingly. Choose 100% pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup with additives.
