Minced Lamb
Minced lamb can be introduced around 6 months. It's a nutrient-dense meat that provides important nutrients for growing babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Serve finely ground cooked lamb mixed with vegetables. 9-12 months: Form into small, soft meatballs. 12-24 months: Serve in various dishes including pasta sauce and stews.
Nutrition
Excellent source of iron (highly bioavailable heme iron), zinc, protein, and B vitamins including B12. Contains selenium.
A note from the editors
Mix lamb with other meats if the flavor is too strong. Lean ground lamb is less fatty.
Good to know
Cook thoroughly until no pink remains. Lamb has a distinctive flavor - some babies may need time to adjust.
