Mint Herb

Mint can be safely introduced as soon as your baby starts solids around 6 months. It adds a refreshing, bright flavor profile that helps babies expand their palates beyond bland foods.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Finely minced and stirred into yogurt, pea puree, or mashed fruits. 9-12 months: Chopped finely and folded into cottage cheese, hummus, or mixed into pasta sauces. 12+ months: Use as a flavorful garnish on cooked vegetables or chopped into salads.

Nutrition

While used in small quantities, mint contains traces of vitamin A and antioxidants that support immune health. It is also known to have soothing properties that can help calm an upset tummy after meals.

A note from the editors

Try blending fresh mint with steamed green peas for a sophisticated flavor pairing that babies often find delightful.

Good to know

Always use fresh leaves and ensure they are finely chopped or blended into purees to avoid potential choking hazards. Start with a tiny pinch to ensure your baby enjoys the strong, cooling sensation.
