Peanut Butter
Peanut butter can be introduced around 6 months. Early introduction may help prevent peanut allergies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Thin peanut butter with water or breast milk and mix into purees. 9-12 months: Spread thinly on toast or mix into oatmeal. 12-24 months: Use as a dip for fruits or spread on crackers.
Nutrition
Excellent source of protein, healthy fats, and vitamin E. Contains niacin, magnesium, and fiber.
A note from the editors
Choose natural peanut butter with no added sugar, salt, or oils. Stir well if oil has separated.
Good to know
Peanuts are a common allergen. Start with a thin smear mixed with water. Never give whole peanuts to babies due to choking hazard.
