Persimmon
Persimmons can be introduced around 6 months when ripe Hachiya or firm Fuyu varieties are used appropriately.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Mash ripe Hachiya persimmon or soft Fuyu slices. 9-12 months: Offer soft pieces. 12-24 months: Serve slices.
Nutrition
Good source of vitamins A and C. Contains fiber and antioxidants. High in natural sugars.
A note from the editors
Hachiya persimmons must be completely soft. Fuyu persimmons can be eaten like apples when firm.
Good to know
Unripe persimmons are astringent and unpleasant. Hachiya must be fully ripe (jelly-soft). Fuyu can be eaten when firm.
