Pomegranate
Pomegranate seeds (arils) can be introduced around 9-12 months. The seeds inside the arils can be a choking hazard.
How to serve at this age
9-12 months: Mash arils to release juice or offer pomegranate juice. 12-24 months: Offer whole arils once chewing is established.
Nutrition
Excellent source of antioxidants. Contains vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium. High in fiber.
A note from the editors
Score the pomegranate and break apart in water to separate arils easily without staining.
Good to know
The arils have small edible seeds that can be hard for babies. Mash arils or offer juice for younger babies.
