Food guide

Quail Egg

Quail eggs are a nutrient-packed food, suitable for introduction from 6 months. They offer similar nutritional benefits to chicken eggs in a smaller package.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Hard-boiled, mashed well with breast milk/formula or puréed, or offered as a very thin, cooked scrambled egg strip. 9-12 months: Mashed hard-boiled egg, small scrambled pieces, or cut into thin strips. 12+ months: Small, bite-sized pieces of hard-boiled or scrambled quail egg.

Nutrition

They are rich in high-quality protein, essential for rapid growth and development. Choline supports brain development and memory, while vitamins A and B12 contribute to overall health and energy metabolism.

A note from the editors

Always cook quail eggs thoroughly until the yolk and white are firm before serving to your baby to prevent foodborne illness.

Good to know

Eggs are a common allergen. Introduce cooked quail egg one at a time, observing closely for any signs of allergic reaction such as hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. Consult your pediatrician if you have concerns.
