Snap peas can be introduced around 6 months when cooked until soft. Raw snap peas are too hard and stringy.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Steam until very soft and puree or mash. 9-12 months: Offer well-cooked, halved snap peas. 12-24 months: Serve cooked snap peas whole.

Nutrition

Good source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and fiber. Contains folate and iron. Low in calories.

A note from the editors

Sugar snap peas are sweeter than snow peas. Blanch to brighten color while cooking.

Good to know

Cook until soft for babies - raw snap peas are a choking hazard. Remove strings if present.
