Spaghetti
Spaghetti can be introduced around 6 months. Break into small pieces or use baby pasta shapes for younger babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Break into very small pieces and cook until soft. 9-12 months: Offer shorter pieces as finger food. 12-24 months: Serve in child-appropriate portions with sauce.
Nutrition
Good source of carbohydrates and some protein. Enriched pasta contains iron and B vitamins. Whole wheat offers more fiber.
A note from the editors
Whole wheat spaghetti has more fiber but is denser. Mix with regular pasta to introduce gradually.
Good to know
Contains wheat gluten. Cook until very soft for younger babies. Long strands can be a choking hazard.
