Food guide
Steak
Steak can be introduced around 6 months when cooked and prepared appropriately for baby's age.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Puree or offer strips for sucking and teething. 9-12 months: Serve thin, soft strips or shredded. 12-24 months: Offer small, tender pieces.
Nutrition
Excellent source of iron (heme iron), zinc, protein, and B12. Contains creatine and other nutrients.
A note from the editors
Slow-cooked beef is more tender. If serving steak, slice very thin against the grain.
Good to know
Cut against the grain and serve appropriate texture for age. Well-done is safest but can be tough - slice thin.
