White Fish

White fish like cod, haddock, or tilapia can be introduced around 6 months when baby is ready for solids. It's an excellent source of lean protein with a mild, delicate flavor that most babies accept well.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Serve flaked or pureed white fish mixed with vegetables. 9-12 months: Offer soft, flaked pieces as finger food. 12-24 months: Serve in larger flakes or small fish cakes.

Nutrition

Excellent source of high-quality protein, omega-3 fatty acids for brain development, vitamin D for bone health, and B vitamins. Low in fat and easy to digest.

A note from the editors

Check carefully for bones before serving. Steam or bake fish rather than frying for healthier preparation.

Good to know

Fish is a common allergen. Introduce carefully and watch for reactions. Always ensure fish is thoroughly cooked with no bones. Avoid high-mercury fish like shark, swordfish, and king mackerel.
