Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe can be introduced around 6 months. Its soft, sweet flesh is appealing to most babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Offer soft pieces for baby to gum or mash. 9-12 months: Serve small cubes as finger food. 12-24 months: Offer larger pieces or slices.
Nutrition
Excellent source of vitamins A and C. Good hydration (90% water). Contains potassium and folate.
A note from the editors
A ripe cantaloupe will smell fragrant and yield slightly when pressed at the stem end.
Good to know
Remove all seeds and rind. Choose ripe melons that smell sweet at the stem end. Wash outer rind before cutting.
