Food guide
Garlic
Garlic can be introduced around 6 months as a flavoring in cooked foods. It adds wonderful flavor without salt.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Add minced garlic to cooked dishes for flavor. 9-12 months: Include in sauces, soups, and vegetables. 12-24 months: Use in various savory dishes.
Nutrition
Contains compounds with antimicrobial properties. Good source of manganese and vitamin B6. May support immune function.
A note from the editors
Roasted garlic is milder and sweeter than sauteed garlic. Crush or mince for better flavor distribution.
Good to know
Always cook garlic for babies - raw garlic is too strong. Start with small amounts. Some babies may be sensitive.
