Ginger
Ginger can be introduced around 6 months in small amounts as a flavoring. It may help with digestion and nausea.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Add a tiny bit of grated ginger to purees or stir-fries. 9-12 months: Include in soups, curries, and baked goods. 12-24 months: Use in various dishes.
Nutrition
Contains gingerol with anti-inflammatory properties. May aid digestion and reduce nausea. Very low in calories.
A note from the editors
Freeze fresh ginger and grate directly from frozen - it's easier to work with. Ginger pairs well with carrots and sweet potato.
Good to know
Use fresh ginger grated or minced in small amounts. Dried ginger is more concentrated. Start with tiny amounts.
