Grapefruit
Grapefruit can be introduced around 6-9 months. It's tart and bitter - some babies may not accept it initially.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Offer segments with membrane removed for sucking. 9-12 months: Serve segmented pieces. 12-24 months: Offer segments or in fruit salads.
Nutrition
Excellent source of vitamin C. Contains vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. Low in calories.
A note from the editors
Pink and red grapefruits are sweeter than white varieties. Mix with sweeter fruits if too tart.
Good to know
Remove seeds and membrane. Very tart - start with small amounts. May interact with certain medications.
