Swiss Cheese

Swiss cheese can be introduced around 9 months. It has a mild, nutty flavor with characteristic holes.

How to serve at this age

9-12 months: Offer thin slices or small pieces. 12-24 months: Include in sandwiches or serve with crackers.

Nutrition

Excellent source of calcium and protein. Contains vitamin B12 and phosphorus. Lower in sodium than many cheeses.

A note from the editors

Baby Swiss has smaller holes and milder flavor. Swiss melts well for quesadillas and sandwiches.

Good to know

Dairy is a common allergen. The holes make it fun but watch for choking on larger pieces.
