Mahi Mahi
Mahi-mahi is a mild-tasting, firm white fish that can be introduced as early as 6 months. It is an excellent, low-mercury option for introducing babies to the benefits of seafood.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Steam or bake and flake into small, moist pieces; mix with a little breastmilk or puree. 9-12 months: Offer soft, flaked pieces that baby can pick up with their fingers. 12+ months: Serve as bite-sized pieces or in a soft fish cake.
Nutrition
This fish is packed with high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for brain and eye development. It is also a good source of selenium and niacin, supporting metabolic health.
A note from the editors
Season the fish with gentle herbs like parsley or dill to introduce savory flavors without using added salt.
Good to know
Fish is a common allergen, so serve in small amounts and watch for reactions. Carefully check and remove any hidden bones before serving, even if the label claims it is boneless.
