Corn

Corn can be introduced around 6 months. Corn kernels should be mashed or pureed as they can be a choking hazard.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Puree or mash cooked corn. 9-12 months: Offer mashed corn or corn mixed into other foods. 12-24 months: Serve soft, well-cooked corn pieces.

Nutrition

Good source of fiber and B vitamins. Contains antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin. Provides energy from carbohydrates.

A note from the editors

Fresh corn is sweetest. If using canned, choose no-salt-added varieties. Frozen corn retains nutrients well.

Good to know

Whole corn kernels are a choking hazard - mash or puree for younger babies. Some babies don't digest whole kernels.
