Pineapple
Pineapple can be introduced around 6 months. It's very acidic and may cause mouth irritation in some babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Offer soft, ripe pieces or mash. 9-12 months: Serve small chunks. 12-24 months: Offer larger pieces or include in dishes.
Nutrition
Excellent source of vitamin C and manganese. Contains bromelain enzyme that aids digestion. Good fiber source.
A note from the editors
Fresh pineapple is more acidic than canned. Pull a leaf from the crown - if it comes out easily, it's ripe.
Good to know
Very acidic - may cause mouth irritation or diaper rash. Remove all tough core. Choose ripe, sweet pineapple.
