Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup small pasta shapes
  • 80g chicken breast (shredded)
  • 1 tablespoon baby-friendly pesto (nut-free)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Method

  1. 01

Cook small pasta shapes (ditalini or small penne) until very soft — beyond al dente. Drain and cool.

  2. 02

Cook chicken breast in olive oil until cooked through. Shred finely or mince.

  3. 03

Mix cooked pasta, shredded chicken, and a small amount of baby-friendly pesto (nut-free if allergen concern) together.

  4. 04

Press the mixture into a greased muffin tin or shape into small patties. Refrigerate 30 minutes to bind.

  5. 05

Serve cold or at room temperature. Alternatively bake at 180°C for 10 minutes to firm up.

How to offer

Place pasta bites on the high chair tray. Always supervise during feeding. At 9 months, shaped pasta bites are easier to pick up than loose pasta. Check pesto for nut content if baby has not been introduced to tree nuts. Offer nut-free pesto until allergen cleared.

Storage

Refrigerate in an airtight container up to 2 days. Not ideal for freezing as pasta texture changes.
