Ingredients

  • 200g ground beef
  • 1 cup pasta (broken short)
  • 1 cup tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano

Method

  1. 01

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup finely diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.

  2. 02

Add 200g ground beef and cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until browned all the way through, about 5–6 minutes.

  3. 03

Stir in 1 cup pureed or finely diced tomatoes (no added salt), 1 tsp olive oil, and 1/4 tsp dried oregano. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. 04

Cook pasta (broken into short pieces) separately according to package directions until very soft — slightly beyond al dente for baby.

  5. 05

Toss the cooked pasta with the bolognese sauce, adding a splash of pasta water to loosen if needed. Serve at a safe temperature.
