Ingredients

  • 200g ground beef
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • Small soft flour tortillas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp mild paprika

Method

  1. 01

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 200g ground beef and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.

  2. 02

Add 1/2 tsp ground cumin and 1/4 tsp mild paprika to the beef. Stir and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat.

  3. 03

Dice 1 ripe avocado into small pieces and mash slightly with a fork. Finely dice 1 medium tomato, removing seeds.

  4. 04

Warm small soft flour tortillas in a dry pan for 30 seconds each side, or wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for 20 seconds.

  5. 05

Assemble small tacos by placing a spoonful of beef, a small amount of avocado, and a little tomato onto each tortilla. Fold in half and cut into small pieces for baby.

How to offer

Cut assembled tacos into small bite-sized pieces appropriate for baby. At 12 months, soft tortilla and mashed avocado are excellent textures. Offer deconstructed if baby prefers to explore components separately.

Storage

Store components separately in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Assemble fresh each time. Keep avocado with a squeeze of lemon to prevent browning.
