  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons cheddar cheese (grated)

Method

  1. 01

Peel and dice potatoes. Boil until very soft (about 15 minutes). Drain well.

  2. 02

Mash potatoes thoroughly with a little butter and milk until smooth — no lumps.

  3. 03

Stir in grated cheddar cheese and finely chopped chives if desired. Mix well.

  4. 04

Once cooled slightly, use a spoon or ice cream scoop to portion into small balls. Refrigerate 30 minutes to firm.

Serve chilled or at room temperature. For baked bites: roll in oats and bake at 180°C for 15 minutes until golden.

How to offer

Place 2–3 bites on the high chair tray. Always supervise during feeding. These bites are extremely soft and melt in the mouth — ideal for 6-month-olds just starting BLW. They can be flattened into a disc shape for even easier grasping.

Storage

Refrigerate in an airtight container up to 3 days. Freeze baked bites for up to 1 month. Reheat gently.
