- Nut-free
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 slice soft whole-grain bread
- 1 teaspoon butter (optional, to spread on toast)
Method
- 01
Bring a small pot of water to a full boil. Gently lower the egg in with a spoon.
- 02
Boil for exactly 10–12 minutes for a fully set yolk (important for babies — no runny yolk).
- 03
Transfer egg to cold water immediately. Peel once cool enough to handle.
- 04
Toast a slice of soft bread and cut into thin finger strips (soldiers) about 1 cm wide.
- 05
Slice the hard-boiled egg into quarters and serve alongside the toast soldiers.
How to offer
Place egg quarters and toast soldiers flat on the high chair tray. Always supervise during feeding. At 9 months, eggs should always be fully cooked. The yolk must be fully set — a firm yolk is safe, a runny yolk is not recommended for babies.
Storage
Refrigerate peeled hard-boiled egg up to 2 days. Toast is best fresh. Reheat egg in warm water for a few minutes.
