Spinach
Spinach can be introduced to babies from 6 months of age. It's nutrient-dense and easy to digest when cooked properly.
How to serve at this age
Serve pureed or finely chopped cooked spinach mixed with other baby-friendly ingredients. You can also cook delicious dishes or pastries by using spinach as chopped or pureed.
Nutrition
High in iron, which is crucial for healthy blood and energy levels. Also, a good source of vitamin A, C, and folates.
A note from the editors
Cooking spinach and then freezing it in ice cube trays can be a convenient way to have the right portion size ready for meals. And do not reheat a cooked spinach meal. It has to be consumed on the same day of cooking.
Good to know
Spinach should be well-cooked to reduce the risk of nitrates, which can be harmful to young babies.
