Strawberry
When a baby is ready to begin solid foods, which is typically around 6 months old, strawberry may be offered.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months old: You can present a full strawberry if your strawberries are exceptionally large, tender, and ripe. The fruit should be chopped or mashed if it is too small to fit in the child's mouth whole. Press the fruit between your fingers and see if it yields when you apply light pressure to see if it is sufficiently soft. 9-12 months old: You can start serving strawberry slices in thin slices. 12-24 months old: Keep serving the strawberries sliced, and when you think the toddler is ready, go with large whole or quartered strawberries.
Nutrition
Vitamin C, which is abundant in strawberries and helps babies' bodies absorb iron from plant-based diets, boosts immunity. Also rich in antioxidants, fiber and vitamin B9. The fruit also has folate, which supports a baby's metabolism, cell energy, and antioxidant activity, and fiber, which supports a healthy gut.
A note from the editors
Pesticides are frequently applied on strawberries. If possible, choose organic fresh or frozen strawberries to reduce exposure. Thoroughly wash strawberries before serving them.
Good to know
Strawberries can be a choking hazard, especially if they are tiny, hard, or rounded. The allergic reactions-inducing strawberry proteins may happen.
