Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples (Fuji or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tbsp water (for the baking dish)

Method

  1. 01

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 02

Wash 2 medium apples (Fuji or Honeycrisp work well). Core each apple with an apple corer or paring knife, leaving the bottom intact to create a well.

  3. 03

Place the apples in a small baking dish and add 2 tablespoons of water to the bottom of the dish.

  4. 04

Bake for 22–25 minutes until the apples are very tender and the skin is puckered and soft.

  5. 05

Allow to cool, scoop the baked flesh away from the skin, and mash or blend until smooth. Baking deepens the natural sweetness — no added sugar needed.

How to offer

Serve warm or at room temperature on a soft spoon. Baking concentrates the apple's natural sweetness and gives a deeper, caramel-like flavor compared to steamed apple.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Freeze in ice cube trays for up to 3 months.
