Turkey

Turkey can be introduced around 6 months. It's a lean protein source similar to chicken.

How to serve at this age

6-9 months: Serve pureed or finely shredded turkey. 9-12 months: Offer small pieces or in meatballs. 12-24 months: Include in various dishes.

Nutrition

Excellent source of protein and B vitamins, especially B6 and B12. Contains selenium, zinc, and tryptophan.

A note from the editors

Ground turkey is easy to prepare for babies. Dark meat is more moist and nutritious than breast.

Good to know

Poultry allergy is rare but possible. Cook thoroughly - no pink inside. Dark meat is more tender and flavorful.
