Ingredients

  • 10 pitted prunes (dried plums)
  • 1 cup water

Method

    Place 10 pitted prunes in a small saucepan and cover with 1 cup of water.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 12–15 minutes until the prunes are very plump and soft.

    Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, reserving the cooking liquid.

    Transfer the prunes and ¼ cup of the cooking liquid to a blender.

    Blend until completely smooth, adding more liquid as needed to reach a thin puree consistency.

How to offer

Serve 1–2 teaspoons mixed into other purees or oatmeal. Prune puree is a gentle natural remedy for infant constipation — start with small amounts.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Freeze in ice cube trays for up to 3 months.
