Ingredients

  • 1 sweet navel orange
  • 2 tbsp banana or apple puree (optional, to mellow tartness)

Method

  1. 01

Choose a sweet, ripe navel or Valencia orange and cut it in half.

  2. 02

Use a citrus juicer or reamer to extract the juice, then strain to remove seeds and large pulp pieces.

  3. 03

For a thicker mash, peel and segment the orange, remove all membrane and seeds, then blend the segments until smooth.

  4. 04

Mix with a little banana or apple puree to mellow the tartness for younger babies.

  5. 05

Serve immediately — orange is best served fresh.

How to offer

Offer in small amounts mixed with milder purees. Orange is rich in vitamin C and excellent for iron absorption when served alongside iron-rich foods.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Not recommended for freezing.
