Food guide
Ground Beef
Ground beef can be introduced around 6 months. It's an excellent source of iron and protein for babies.
How to serve at this age
6-9 months: Serve finely crumbled, well-cooked ground beef. 9-12 months: Offer in small meatballs or meat sauce. 12-24 months: Include in various dishes.
Nutrition
Excellent source of iron (highly bioavailable heme iron), zinc, protein, and B12. Contains selenium and B vitamins.
A note from the editors
Grass-fed beef has more omega-3s. Mix with vegetables for balanced nutrition and easier texture.
Good to know
Cook thoroughly until no pink remains (160°F/71°C). Choose lean ground beef. Break into very small pieces for younger babies.
